The book, Bill’s fourth to date, is aptly entitled "Bill

by St. Johann Press in Haworth, New Jersey. It features a foreword
by Jim Lowe, one of America's best known DJ's and host of the nationally
syndicated radio program "Jim Lowe and Friends".
"Bill Owen's Over 60 Trivia Book" is now available in
both fine book stores across the USA and on-line at www.amazon.com.
RadioASB listeners may obtain a copy personally autographed by
Bill Owen himself, free of shipping and handling charges, simply
by calling (201) 387-1529 and mentioning the RadioASB "Music
Essentials with Bill Owen" program.
The book is chock full of captivating nostalgia from the Golden
Era of Radio and TV as well as amusing sports statistics, insightful
historical anecdotes, eye-opening political tidbits, spellbinding
Hollywood intrigues, mesmerizing side-notes from the world of literature,
delightful comic book minutiae and so much more. The “Bill
Owen’s Over 60 Trivia Book” encompasses a broad spectrum
of enchanting topics that not only provides deep insight into little
known topics of yesteryear but also sheds light upon oft overlooked
yet nevertheless enthralling facts related to the everyday world
around us, all of which Bill presents with his inimitable flair
and finesse.
The “Bill Owen's Over 60 Trivia Book” has received
overwhelmingly unanimous critical acclaim, and it has been especially
well received from within the broadcasting and entertainment industries.
Several critiques of note include:
"Bill Owen reigns supreme as the undisputed King of Trivia"
- Les Paul, popular recording artist and acclaimed inventor of the
Les Paul electric guitar.
"The Trivial Pursuit empire was undoubtedly inspired by Bill
Owen" - Joe Franklin, veteran radio and TV personality, also
known as America's longtime King of Nostalgia.
“Bill Owen is truly the Grand Duke of Trivia" - Bill
Diehl, entertainment critic for the ABC Radio Network in New York
City.
"Whether it relates to Big Bands, movie classics, vintage
automobiles, World War II anecdotes, sports nostalgia of the 30's
and 40's or the Golden Age of Radio, Bill Owen recalls a fabulous
era" - Danny Stiles, veteran host of New York radio stations
WNYC, WNSW and WPAT.
“When it comes to sports trivia no one does it better than
Bill Owen" - Tom McDonald, nationally known radio and TV sportscaster
and host of New York's Fox 5 "Sports Extra" program.
"Bill Owen has entertained millions throughout the years with
trivia on radio and TV. I am delighted to now see him in print”
- Kitty Kallen, star vocalist of numerous American Standard songs.
“Bill Owen is the Tycoon of Trivia. Whenever I want to know
who did what and when I call Bill, and more often than not he also
knows WHERE" - Julius La Rosa, renowned for his years as popular
vocalist on the Arthur Godfrey Show as well as radio host on New
York's WNEW.
The “Bill Owen’s Over 60 Trivia Book” also showcases
the creative artistic talents of Bill’s daughter, Carolyn
Owen, who has provided the delightfully whimsical illustrations
found throughout the book.
A world recognized "icon" in the radio and television
broadcasting industry for four decades, Bill Owen maintains an illustrious
list of professional career credits. As one of the original "Swingin'
Seven" DJ's on WABC 77 Radio in New York City during the early
1960’s Bill was instrumental in catapulting WABC 77 to the
top of the New York City radio station ratings as well as revolutionizing
American radio. As an ABC TV sports broadcaster for "Wide World
of Sports" from 1960 to 1990 Bill worked with industry giants
such as Howard Cosell, covering multiple Olympics, America Cup Races
and myriad other national and international sporting events. As
host of the Emmy award winning ABC TV series "Discovery"
from 1966 to 1972 Bill often found himself traveling to such far
flung, exotic locations as Hong Kong, Helsinki and Moscow, to mention
just a few, in his coverage for the show’s wide ranging topics
of interest.
A little piece of trivia concerning Bill Owen reveals that his
interest in trivia began while working as a staff announcer for
the ABC program "World News This Morning" in 1982. One
day a technical problem at the station left Bill with a need to
expand by several seconds his time check leading into a commercial.
He filled in the short gap by broadcasting a trivia question about
Thomas Jefferson “over the air”. Bill’s “on
air” trivia questions became a regular part of his program
format and, much to everyone’s amazement, he soon started
to receive more fan mail from listeners than all the other ABC program
hosts combined.
Bill Owen can be heard on RadioASB each Saturday afternoon from
3:00PM to 7:00PM EST and each Sunday afternoon from 12:00 Noon to
4:00PM EST.
